Expand your life!

EXPAND YOUR LIFE!

Although you may be considering therapy due to something that is not working in your life, I believe that you have the innate wisdom that you need to feel at peace - our task is simply to reveal it.  Our work together may explore how the choices and protective strategies that are being utilized can be re-focused in a more balanced manner.  I work holistically,  beginning with the identification and acknowledgment of strengths and resources, then establishing the goals and choices that you are wishing for.  From that empowered place, we will move into a collaborative exploration of your experience that is begins with what is real and alive for you in the moment.  Cultivating mindfulness—compassionate, non-judgmental, open, present awareness—is a unifying thread that runs though my work. Our sessions together may include deep conversation, expressive processes such as journaling or drawing,  or quiet, mindful connection with your internal experience.

I enjoy working with women and men of diverse culture and sexual identity, with particular interest in the expansion of the capacity to experience connectedness and love (both with others and themselves), balance, and openness to the unknown. I am a certified Somatic Experiencing ® Practitioner and care deeply about my work with stress and trauma-based difficulties. Other issues that may be explored in therapy sessions are life transitions, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, sexuality, communication, stress & trauma, and mindful and creative living. My work with couples is an ongoing reminder of the importance of connection, the impact of living from the heart, and the opportunities both provide for transformation.

I have a wealth of life experiences that have brought me to this work. I draw understanding from the gifts and lessons I have learned as mother, lover, artist and business owner as I witness my client’s unique journey of experiencing, unfolding and transformation. I am also continuously informed by the wisdom and compassion I have acquired through my own contemplative and expressive practices of meditation and art.

My experience, training, and skill in a number of therapeutic modalities gives our work both flexibility and depth. My work is informed by and takes direction from these theories and philosophies:

  • Positive/Strength-based Psychology
  • Body-oriented Psychotherapy
  • Neuropsychology
  • Expressive Arts Therapy
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
  • Ecopsychology
  • Eastern Spiritual Wisdom

I hold a MA in Counseling Psychology from JFK University’s School of Holistic Studies, where I obtained specific training in Existential - Contemplative Psychotherapy, Group Therapy and Expressive Arts. I am a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner ® and a graduate of Hakomi.
